2015 Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop Reveal!

http://fromthebeadboard.blogspot.com/

The Dry Gulch gals are excited to reveal our creations for the 2015 Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop!  Hosted by Linda Anderson at FromtheBeadBoard.blogspot.com, the Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop is an event were we swap beads with our partners, create jewelry with the beads, and then reveal what we created!  For this Swap, Dry Gulch was partnered with Annica Larsson from Zestyfrog.wordpress.com.  We sent her a collection of pastel colored fibers, handmade pendants, lampwork and stones.  Annica sent us a great earthy mix of her own handmade ceramic beads and pendants.

Without further ado, here are our creations made with Annica's collection!  There are four of us Dry Gulch girls, and we each took pieces of Annica's swap mix and began creating.

First up is Deborah's creation!  This necklace features Annica's Raku fired ceramic pendant and red leather.  Deborah added wooden cheetah print beads and crystal chain, and Cat stamped a small dangle charm that says "... Courage dear Heart...".

Next up is a necklace made by Gianna!  Using Annica's lampwork leaves and quartz drops, Gianna made a chain necklace using frames that she soldered together!  The frames were definitely tough to make, lots of filing and making sure the corners joined up well.  The little boxes give extra dimension to the electro-plated quartz.

Jennifer took several of the Czech glass beads and semi-precious stones that Annica sent and created a multi-strand bracelet.  So earthy!

Catherine created two pieces for the Swap!  The first showcases a handmade metal-smithed pendant made by Cat using sawing techniques on copper.  It also has little handmade ceramic drops from Annica.  Also included is leather, sea glass and vintage seam-binding ribbon.  Cat has been on an asymmetry kick lately, and this piece definitely shows that!

Catherine's second piece was made with the amethyst, wooly wire and geode slice from Annica.  Cat also added sea glass nuggets to the necklace.  This is Cat's favorite of the two, probably because purple is her favorite color!  The swirlies on the geode were made with iron wire.

Thank you to Annica for being our Swap partner!  And thank you to Linda Anderson for this fabulous event.  Hop on over to all the other Peeps' blogs and see what they're doing.  Thank you!

2015 Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop Goodies Revealed!

http://fromthebeadboard.blogspot.com/search/label/Swap%20N%20Hop

We received our goodies!  And our partner received her goodies too!  We're participating in the Bead Peeps Swap N Hop 2015; participants swap beads and then post what they created with them!  This year, our partner is Annica Larsson from Zestyfrog.wordpress.com.  Without further ado, here are the yummy beads.

First, we sent Annica our soup, and we posted our teaser photo a while ago...

http://drygulchbeadsandjewelry.blogspot.com/2015/03/2015-bead-peeps-swap-n-hop-partner.html

Inside the package was this!

We wanted to send a pastel mix of pinks and greens for spring to Annica.  We've included lampwork from Jennifer, a ceramic pendant made by Deborah, a twisted wire glass bead pendant by Gianna and a chunk of rough Rose Quartz that Catherine mined from the Black Hills in South Dakota, USA.  The metal flowers have been given patina (by Jennifer and Gianna) and the pink ribbon is vintage seam-binding ribbon that Deborah hand-crinkled.  The metal components we included are Shibuichi, a metal alloy made by combining 1 part silver to 3 parts copper.  Dry Gulch carries several findings and components of this metal on our website at www.drygulch.com.  We all had a blast putting this soup together!

Second, we have Zestyfrog's collection!

So much great earthy in this mix!  We absolutely love the colors she sent us, very organic and down-to-earth.  Annica sent us several of her wonderful hand-made ceramic creations, which we especially love!  She included a large heart pendant (that I discovered took many firings to create!), a set of Raku textured beads and some lovely little shells.  We can't wait to get started working on this fabulous selection.  Thank you, Annica!  Stop by often, bead peeps, we'll be posting our creations May 2nd.

2015 Bead Peeps Swap N Hop Partner Intro

http://fromthebeadboard.blogspot.com/search/label/Swap%20N%20Hop

Say hello to ZestyFrog, aka Annica Larsson.  She is our partner for the 2015 Bead Peeps Swap N Hop, and we are excited to have her!

Annica blogs over at at zestyfrog.wordpress.com, and creates beautiful glazed clay beads.  Her specialty is metal clay and ceramic clay.  Her style is earthy and textured, and using techniques like carving and sculpting, her components have an organic aesthetic.

• Annica currently lives on the island of Ă…land, an archipelago just off the coast of Sweden and Finland.
• She's been seriously making beads and jewelry for 10 years.
• She has an Etsy site and a Facebook business page.
• Her business name ZestyFrog was inspired by her love of frogs.  Having the symbol for her shop be a zesty frog with a love for life was something that she really liked!
