Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop 2017 Big Reveal

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Bead Peeps Swap N' Hop Reveal!  We partner up with another blogger, SWAP a collection of beads, CREATE with our Swap beads and then HOP everyone's participating blogs to see what they created too.

This year we were partnered with Barbara Ann Price of Colorcopia Jewelry Designs.  As a fun twist this year, Barbara used Instagram to post her Swap collection.  You can find her Instagram account here: https://www.instagram.com/colorcopiajewelrydesigns/  Barbara sent a gorgeous mix of turquoise, green, black and white handmade lampwork beads and sterling silver findings (seen in the photo above).

Above you can see what we sent to our partner Barbara.  She works almost exclusively in colorful designs, so we wanted to challenge her by sending a Swap collection of stones and hand forged copper pieces in a color range of purples, earthy tones and mauves.

Our biggest challenge this year during the 3rd Annual Swap N' Hop was just finding time to create!  Between shows and events, it was tough finding time to just sit down and put our creative hats on.  However, we thoroughly enjoyed playing with the yummy turquoises and spring greens that our partner sent us.  Now, on to the collection of fun-ness that we created with our Swap goodies!

Deborah hand knotted this striking necklace using lampwork beads from Barbara.  These beads, created by artist RĂ©gis Teixera, are paired with vintage glass, crystals and sea glass.  The focal features a vintage chandelier crystal and a sterling silver hand-wrapped ring by artist Barbara Gumerson.  This necklace was a tough one for Deborah because of the very modern-looking lampwork beads, but she is very happy with the end result!

Gianna, who is our resident seed beader, made this fabulous design!  She used Barbara's enameled beads, baby lampwork spacers, aqua dagger beads and sterling silver toggle in this extravagant necklace inspired by the ocean.  She was dreaming of summer days by the water, so she created the sea horse pendant by drawing it out on a suede background and then filling it with seed beads and a crystal rivoli.

This white and black necklace was made by Jennifer and features lampwork beads also from Barbara.  Jennifer wire-wrapped filigree beads, rings, crystals and even the clasp in this necklace, and the focal features a collage of vintage washer parts, a brooch and rusted key for a touch of shabby style.  She also made lightweight earrings to match.

Finally, we have Catherine's creation.  We've been playing with leather bracelets and tassels lately, so she paired Barbara's Greek Mykonos silver triangle beads and green lampwork with leather and wire for a funky leather wrap bracelet.  This bracelet is also long enough to wear as a necklace!  The feather featured is a Dry Gulch original too.

We'd like to send a big thank you to Linda for this year's Swap N' Hop, and a thank you to our partner Barbara for all of the goodies she sent.  Don't forget to check out all of the participating blogs and Instagram accounts below!

Bead Peeps Swap N Hop 2017 Swap Goodies Reveal

Our partner's Swap goodies arrived today!  There was a fantastic mix of fun things, but first check out what we sent our partner Barbara Price of ColorCopia Jewelry Designs on her Instagram page here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BRZSak4h9xa/?taken-by=colorcopiajewelrydesigns

We sent her an earthy mix of colors like coppers, purples and sand opals in beads such as garnets, crystals, mother-of-pearl and druzies.  Our partner Barbara works extensively with bold and colorful elements, we wanted to challenge her by sending a color palette with out-of-the-box textures and colors!  As part of the Swap N' Hop rules, we also sent handmade components like a hand forged copper pendant by Deborah, and lampwork floret headpins by Catherine.  We also sent antique copper plated chain, charms and findings.

Now on to the mix that arrived from our partner!!  Barbara works loves to collect and work with handmade lampwork beads, so she sent a lovely mix of lampwork in turquoises, blues and greens.  Artisans represented in this lampwork collection include Brenda Chamberlin, Joan Fogarty, Patty Thomas and Regis Teixera.  Our Swap partner also sent some fun findings in sterling silver.  Thank you Barbara, we're excited to work with all of these!

We already have some ideas on what we're doing with this colorful mix, so stay tuned for the Swap N Hop reveal this April 8th!

Bead Peeps Swap N Hop 2017 Partner Intro

We joined the 3rd Annual Swap N Hop this year!  Participants get matched with Partners, then Swap beads and handmade components with each other, create fabulous jewelry, then reveal what they created in a Blog Hop.  The gals at Dry Gulch Beads & Jewelry are very excited to join this yearly Hop again!

This year, we are partnered with Barbara Ann Price of Colorcopia Jewelry Designs from Ohio, USA.  She creates strung jewelry out of lampwork beads that she loves to collect.  She has an entire wall of lampwork beads that she holds dear.

Her favorite metals to work with are sterling and gold, partly because she's allergic to other metals.  She has also created lampwork beads too, but now just likes to collect them.

As part of a Swap N Hop Twist this year, Barbara will be participating with an Instagram account.  Currently, she doesn't have anything on it but she's already working on photographing her collection of handmade lampwork jewelry to add to it.  You'll be able to see her Reveal on her account here: https://www.instagram.com/colorcopiajewelrydesigns/

Find out more about the Swap N Hop here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/beadPeeps/

Stay tuned for our Swap N Hop Reveal on April 8th!
