Dry Gulch December 2016 Color Design Challenge

Design with color and inspire your creativity!

 Welcome to the
Dry Gulch Color Design Challenge!

Christmas Wreath

Every month Dry Gulch Beads and Jewelry will be hosting a challenge for creative artisans everywhere.  Be inspired and unleash your creative talents!  What will you create?

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
This is to remind everybody that the Dry Gulch December 2016 Color Design Challenge will be the last Color Design Challenge from Dry Gulch Beads & Jewelry. We are expecting lots of designs and creativity for our last Color Design Challenge.

Use our colors to inspire your creativity!  Post your project using the color palette above.  Your design will be eligible to win either a $50 gift certificate or a $25 gift certificate to Dry Gulch Beads.

Anything can be created for this challenge, including;  finished jewelry pieces, headbands, wearable pendants/pins, handmade cards, lampwork beads, seed-bead art, sewing design, metal-smithing/art, paper crafting, clothing/fiber art, leather work, painting, even your favorite culinary delights (like cupcakes), etc.  Your project must be finished and created newly and specifically for our current monthly challenge.  Your project must include all the colors shown in the palette. The project may have other colors in it, but the official palette should be the main focus.  The sky is the limit!  Show us how creative you are with our color palette.

For this challenge, Dry Gulch is offering a $50 gift certificate prize to the Winner and a $25 gift certificate prize to the Runner-up.  The judges will be looking first for adherence to the color palette, and then second for creativity of the project’s design and then thirdly for effort.  You may purchase and use Dry Gulch components in your project, but that is not a requirement to win.

                                                          ~
First and foremost, the judges look for color adherence.  If your completed project has all of the right colors, but your photographed entry does not reflect those colors, then that creates a real dilemma for the judges and a possible disappointment for you since we judge for color adherence first, based on your submitted photos!  Secondly, we judge for creativity and then thirdly for effort.  Photographs are an integral element for showing the judges what the project colors look like.  In a previous challenge, we had a project that was submitted with three different photographs, and in each photo the colors looked completely different and only one of those photographs best matched the color palette!  Remember, your photo must show us all of the criteria that we look for, but especially the colors.  Of course, you may submit more than one photograph of different angles and lighting of the same project and the judges will select the best photo that best matches the current challenge colors for posting on our website.

                                                          ~

Your judges (4 judges) will be the 3 generations of women who create at Dry Gulch Beads and Jewelry.  The judges may create and post their own visions of the monthly color palette also, but for inspiration and presentation only.

We’ll publish each created work on Facebook and on our official Challenge page on our website.  Add your photo to our Color Design Challenge Facebook Event or email us your photo to custserv@drygulch.com.  When uploading, you may add a description of your work.  If also Facebooking and/or blogging your Dry Gulch Color Design project, please add a link to the Challenge on your page.  You may also use our official Color Challenge blog badge, which can be found on the right sidebar of our blog.

Entries for the Dry Gulch Color Design Challenge may be turned in from now until midnight CST, Saturday, December 31st, 2016.

Dry Gulch Fall 2016 Shows Recap

We had a blast this Autumn show season!   We traveled all over the Midwest; from Oklahoma to Missouri to Arkansas.  Besides offering our beads and handmade jewelry for sale, we also had shabby hats, recycled boot belts, handmade bags and much more.

Some photos of our booth - we adapted our booth layout to each show.

We also created custom creations at each of our shows.  We worked on leather message bracelets, pendants and chains, and charm necklaces.  Take a look at some of the neat designs below!

We also hosted our Funky Wire Links class at the Tulsa Bead Market in Oklahoma and our Winter Bead & Jewelry Trunk Show in Arkansas.  Our students learned how to work with copper wire and made fabulous funky earrings with their wire links.  We had a blast!

Don't forget to come see us this December 9-10 in Oklahoma for the Tulsa 2 Friends & JUNK event, our final show of 2016.  Visit our website at www.drygulch.com for more info on our next show!

Where Bloggers Create 2016 - Dry Gulch Beads & Jewelry

Hello, and welcome to the Where Bloggers Create 2016 blog party!  We're very excited to be part of the annual tradition.  Dry Gulch is a family owned and operated jewelry and accessory business, below we'll show you each of our workspaces.   Let's start the tour with Deborah's and Catherine's creative spaces!

The Upstairs Table
Upstairs is the blogging and painting room. We leave the Cooking Channel on as background noise while we work on our Painted Pendants line of findings and components. This is also one of the spaces where we create jewelry pieces.

Upstairs is our favorite place to work because of the natural light coming in, plus the Dry Gulch dogs can sit with us.

The basement space is our work-in-progress space, and houses our sewing, leather and metalsmithing projects. Whenever we need to work on our Boho Bags line, or solder some metal together, or stamp a custom order, the basement is the place to be!!

We plan on moving all of our creative projects to the basement. We will have vintage lighting, recycled shelves and more to help us organize all of our projects. By the next Where Bloggers Create blog party, we hope to show you our brand new creative space!

Deborah's jewelry making space features a wall of organized beads, wire and findings, and a creation desk, complete with a gorgeous blue chair!

New jewelry is being made at Jennifer's creative workspace. She also has a wall of beads and findings, but she creates much of our paper packaging using her stash of paper and embellishments.

Thanks for coming to see our workspace!  A big thank you goes to Karen at My Desert Cottage for hosting this wonderful event.  Now head on over to the official Where Bloggers Create page to see all the fabulous creative spaces!
